Alix Devendra is a designer in the body of a lawyer. She helps lawyers make their work product more effective using typography and other principles of visual communication design. Alix also consults for legal-tech startups, who value her experience in both law practice and design thinking. She travels internationally to speak and facilitate workshops on legal design.
Alix recently co-founded Start Here HQ, a consultancy that helps lawyers take control of their work lives so that their careers can be both purpose driven and sustainable. Through Start Here HQ, Alix can offer her design services in a more holistic setting that addresses the multifaceted needs of the 21st-century lawyer.
Earlier in her career, Alix practiced labor-and-employment law at an AmLaw 100 firm in San Francisco. She graduated first in her class from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and holds a bachelor’s degree in French literature from Pomona College.
